Success by 6 Powell River

Early Childhood Development Provincial Partnership

In BC, Success By 6® is a unique partnership among Credit Unions, United Ways, the BC Government through the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and our communities.

Since April 2003, the Provincial Partnership has successfully facilitated the development of Success By 6® initiatives that reach over 200 communities across the province, bringing together over 500 key leaders from all sectors (business, labour, health, education, social services, Aboriginal communities, etc), and raising over $5.9 million in cash and in-kind donations.

Children and their families have benefited from over 280 programs supported by Success By 6® funds, such as Family Resource Programs, early literacy initiatives, parenting supports, access to recreation, immigrant services and Books for Babies. Funds raised in local communities will stay in the community to support identified early childhood development priorities.

In collaboration with local communities and early childhood development professionals, the Provincial Partnership continues to build “child-friendly” communities and support the healthy growth and development of young children and their families.

Success By 6 in Powell River

Success By 6 was launched in Powell River in early 2004. Powell River’s Council of Partners – the group which “steers” local activities – includes representatives from business and local governments, public and non-profit sector organizations, and community members.
